It's a new year. Fasting is on trend. You may want to participate in some kind of fast, but you never seem to be able to commit. Or perhaps you think you're unqualified. I mean, don't you need to be like, a Christian to do all that? Don't you have to have a tidy spiritual life in order to fast?
The truth is, life is messy. And fasting is hard. But it was made as a tool for us, not the other way around. By implementing the principle of first things, we are taking the "work" out of fasting, giving God the first day of each month of 2021 on His timetable, the Hebrew calendar... the easiest fast you will ever do!
Introducing the Let's Get Messy "SuperFast"!!! But this is not just a fast, it's a community. A safe place for anyone to come with their baggage, whatever color, texture, name brand, and size. Here you have the freedom to be yourself, while reaching out to a perfect God who is unafraid of messiness.

WHAT IS A SUPERFAST?
Fasting on these dates is like a spiritual super weapon. The Hebrew calendar is like having access to a secret playbook. In the Hebrew calendar (God's time-clock), there are certain days when supernatural activity is at its highest, and spiritual portals are open to make progress, receive blessings, break things that won't break, and loose things that won't loose. Together, fasting on these dates makes for powerful results.
WHY SHOULD WE GET MESSY?
Because life gets messy. This is intended to be a SAFE PLACE for people to come with their baggage, whatever color, texture, name brand, and size, and have the freedom to be themselves, and reach out to a perfect God who is unafraid of messiness.
DO I NEED TO BE A CHRISTIAN TO PARTICIPATE?
Not at all. If you can relate to any of this and feel a tug in your heart, you are more than welcome to be a part of our family. Just be respectful.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS FAST?
1) Give God the 1st part of every month
2) Sync with the God-flow by aligning with his calendar and time clock
3) Sacrifice our idols and disrupt our routines
4) Be intentional to come close and stay close to God on a regular basis
5) Make fasting/consecration a lifestyle, rather than a singular event
6) Utilize the power of community
7) Reap the benefits of a more well-balanced life
WHO SHOULD DO THIS FAST?
Anyone. This is NOT a typical fast, because it is geared towards ALL people - those who may or may not be Christians, may or may not be churched, and may or may not be estranged from God.
Here are some (not all) reasons this fast might be PERFECT for you...
-you struggle with an addiction to porn, promiscuity, pills, weed, alcohol, self-mutilation, etc.
-you struggle privately with gender or sexual identity (whether or not your public self is proud about it)
-you can't seem to find your way back to the truth you know about God in your heart due to hurt from church and wrong teaching
-you have a love for God but you don't go to church, yet you know there's more of him
-you struggle with fasts and can't seem to complete them
-you've never fasted but feel compelled to participate
-there are things you can't seem to bring into your life because something seems to be holding you or things back
HOW DO I FAST?
There are many methods to use (water only, Daniel fast, etc.), but I really want this portion to be highly individualized. Only you know what things you have idolized in your life. Please prayerfully consider giving up those things.
Here are a few examples:
-substance use such as alcohol, cocaine, weed, pills, etc.
-television or specific kinds of television (including streaming programs)
WHY IS IT OPEN TO ALL?
In scripture, when it was time to fast, it was not made exclusive, rather it was open to an entire nation. Entire regions would gather their families, shut down their work, and set themselves to seek the Lord. I want to adopt that method by opening the fast up to anyone, saved or unsaved; churched or unchurched.
WHY ARE YOU USING THE HEBREW CALENDAR?
This fast came to me as I studied the "Healing in the Hebrew Months" book series. Last year, I became intentional to pay attention to the times and seasons God has set in place via the Jewish nation and Hebrew calendar. This journey became one of tremendous healing, breakthrough, and freedom from religious striving for me! It almost feels like a cheat sheet.
HOW LONG DO I FAST EACH DAY?
The fast will be from sundown the day prior to sundown the day of the actual fast. We are doing this because when God made the "days", evening came first and then the day. So, technically when the sun sets, that's the beginning of a new day. Notice these dates are not where the typical start of the month usually is according to the Gregorian calendar.
NOTE: Sundown may vary, so check your local weather, but we will just do 6PM to 6PM.
AREN'T YOU ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO SIN ON REGULAR DAYS BY GIVING GOD JUST ONE DAY?
Absolutely not. People are going to do whatever they want. It's not my goal or my job to convert or make people change. I'm only providing a SAFE SPACE and an OPPORTUNITY to put those things aside and turn your heart to seek the Lord in a REAL WAY, even if but for a moment each month. We are creating a scenario where God can touch people's hearts. Heart change leads to behavior change. Rest assured, God is pleased with any movement of the heart towards Him!
WHAT SHOULD I FOCUS ON DURING THE FAST?
Contemplative prayer, prayer out loud, scripture reading, faith-filled music/sounds, quiet, listening and waiting on God, listening to prophetic soaking, journaling, forgiving and releasing hurts and offenses, ceasing from whatever activity/thing you decide to fast from, getting into nature, gratitude, volunteer work, or other selfless acts, etc.
WHAT WILL WE DO IN THE GROUP TIME?
We will come together on these days for about an hour in our virtual room to have some group time. I haven't decided all activities, so feel free to suggest.
